CHEZ ANYA | Breakfast Croissant

Hi guys! I hope everyone is doing well! So after a week of non-stop exams and work, I finally had a free day! No alarm clocks, no waking up before the crack of dawn, and most importantly, no skipping out on breakfast! Now I love me some breakfast, but with the lifestyle of a uni student comes often missing meals… Shh, don’t tell my mom! Unfortunately healthy eating habits are not the top priority of students, but I do get really excited when I have the opportunity to make a yummy hearty breakfast!

So today I’m going to show you guys how to make a fairly quick and extremely easy break fast croissant! So the ingredients you will need are bacon, eggs, tomatoes (optional), a croissant, cheese, butter and salt & pepper to taste! This recipe is pretty simple, all you have to do is cut the croissant in half and toast it on a frying pan on medium heat. Avoid using a toaster since the buttery-crumbliness of the croissant might stick to/burn in the toaster. The you just whisk the egg with a dash of water, salt and pepper, and fry it in butter. Once done place it on the croissant. Fry the bacon and place it on the croissant, if you are vegetarian you can opt out of this, obviously :b Then place your cheese on top of the hot bacon so it melts nicely, and top off with slices tomatoes and your other croissant slice!

Voila, c’est fini! You have a hearty and easy breakfast, accompanied perfectly by some tea <3  Hope you guys try and enjoy this recipe, let me know how it turns out or if you have any suggestion! I am after all new to cooking for myself and open to motherly criticism :b Hugs and cheers, till next time, Anya <3 :)

UPDATE | Don't hate me guys!

It's finals time again, woooh -_- I have been doing all-nighters, studying before the crack of dawn on top of working extra shifts, this is not the best end of the term for me... But I am almost done and within a weeks time I shall be home-bound, free from the hell!

After this I will try my best to update more often! With a busted phone and no free time it's hard to update a blog :( Hopefully that'll soon change! Bear with me until then, hugs and cheers, Anya <3

HAUL | CRUISIN’ COUSINS

Sorry for yet another long delay in posts, I am infinitely busy with work and school and sleeping (I just can’t get enough of it!) and thus have lacked on posts, I will try harder tho! (Pinky Promise (: ) However yesterday I got to hang out with a dear (although crazy) cousin of mine and we went SHOPPING! I haven’t done that in too long -_- I got quite a few items, mostly necessities ;P

iygh

I’m also testing out and experimenting with my new camera (Birthday Gift, love you mom!) So bear with the weird focusing and lighting!

2013_08_10

The item I’m most excited about is this new watch set I got from ALDO ($35)! It’s super cute and comes with 5 straps! I love the versatility and  affordability of this watch, and the best part is that it comes with warranty! There are different sets, however I chose to get the set with the most neutrals, best for matching with outfits :) The set I got comes with a black faux leather strap, a white faux leather strap, a brown faux leather strap, a floral material strap and a striped black and white strap. The watch works fine, however the only down side is that the other three meters, meant for day and month etc., are just for show, they don’t actually work :( But you get what you pay for, plus, what are smartphones for!? :b

I then visited one of my favourite places, Home Outfitters! I am obsessed with this store, just the amazingly huge selection of the cutest (yet not so necessary) items has got me hooked! I’m a frequent window shopper in this store, however the fact that it was payday just made these items seem much more necessary! From HO I got the most chic oil dispenser thingy’s, the one’s you always see on the cooking channel! They are super adorbs and hopefully benefit my mom, who is pretty much the only one who can ACTUALLY cook in my home :b Also I visited an all-things-indian mall near my home and picked up henna which stains amazingly dark! I’m super excited to try it and I’ll make sure to post about my experience!

I then picked up the SEAWEED IONIC CLAY MASK & SEAWEED MATTIFYING DAY CREAM from The Body Shop. I am currently using their TEA TREE line and it is working wonders on my acne, so I thought I’d pick up a few testers of this product to see if it helped with my oily skin. I don’t wear makeup on a regular basis thus I’d like some sort of help for my oily skin, oily just isn’t cute – _ – Also I got this beautifully chic wallet from ALDO ($25). I have been in dire need of a purse for that last 4 months, ever since I broke my last one. I am in love with this purse, it is the first one I’ve found that actually has enough space without being bulky! Thank you for this amazing purse <3

That’s all for my haul, I am after all a broke uni student :b Till next time, hugs and cheers, Anya <3

BEAUTY DIY | Green Tea Bath

Green tea baths became popular thanks to the legendary Yang Gui Fei or Lady Yang of the Tang dynasty of ancient China. She was the favourite concubine of the emperor, Tang Ming Huang, and the secret to her beauty was said to be her frequent dips in tea baths. To this day woman, especially of Japan, have been using green tea baths for it’s various benefits.
It’s been quite a stressful month for me. I have summer school, I’m still looking for a job, and there seems to be constant work to be done in and around the house. This has left me battered, bruised, and literally scarred (rose bushes are pretty, but they’re killer to deal with)!
Green tea baths are famous for their healing and rejuvenating qualities. They are said to detoxify the skin, delay skin cell aging, heal sores and sounds, soothe and heal stressed skin, firm and balance skin tone, treat and prevent acne, and so much more! Obviously with this many benefits I thought right now was the best time to try this out :b

What you need? Bagged green tea and a tub! Pretty much all you have to do is fill a tub 3/4's with hot water. Then you drop in 5-8 tea bags and let them swirl around and soak in the water. Once the water has reached your desired temperature just remove the tea bags and submerge yourself in blissful heaven <3
I kid you not, this bath was the most relaxing thing I’ve experienced in a while. Add in a few candles, some music and good book and you have got yourself a spa right at home! I hope you guys enjoy this easy DIY, try it out and let me know if it works for you! I’m off to write a case study but I’ll try to be back soon :) Till next time, hugs and cheers, Anya <3

ROOM INSPIRATION | Heavenly Haven

So since it’s going to take me a while to get all the materials I need to put together my newly designed room, I thought I’d share the photos which inspired me in my room theme! The theme I’m going with is an all white room :) I’ve always loved how all white rooms look, and I’ve always loved amazing lighting in room, possibly cause I’m an avid reader and good lighting is EVERYTHING in order to enjoyably read a good book :b So this is why I chose to go with an all white room. The only problem is I’m a klutz who to this day spills her tea –_- But I’ll have to gain some grace, cause I’m in love with this room theme :b So without further ado, here are the rooms I’ve taken inspiration from:
I love the white faux fur blanket! Hard to find for cheap, but I’m definitely not gonna stop trying :b
This was my favourite room design! The simple bed, cute accessories, and string lights are to die for <3
And this is a collection of inspiring room pictures! Pretty eh?
The main challenge of my room design is to keep everything under budget! I am a broke uni student so money is tight, I’ll be doing a lot of thrift store rummaging and second-hand buying but I don’t mind, so long as I can say that I did all of this on my own :) That’s it for now, I’ll try and update more often! Till next time, hugs and cheers, Anya <3

CHEZ ANYA | Toasts Français!

So French Toast is one of my many favourite breakfast meals! And since I am now living away from home and had to learn how to make my own, I want to share how to make these meals with my amazing audience! Cooking for a single person can seem hard and tedious, even when you change the yield proportion for one serving, you get weird fractions and odd numbers –_- So hopefully these tried and true recipes will help make your meals more fun, and most importantly, SATISFYING! This is my first recipe post so please forgive the lack of photos :( As soon as I can get a good camera, you will have much more visuals to enjoy!
Ingredients! You will need: 1 Egg, 1/5 Cup of Milk, 2 Slices of Bread, and Cinnamon Spice!
So it’s a pretty easy recipe to follow! First you whisk the egg and the milk together. Put the mixture in a flat dish. Heat a pan on medium-low heat, and melt butter. Once the butter is melted, and sizzles when you add water you can start the process of making the French Toast! Then you a bread slice dip each side in the mixture for around 10-15 seconds, sprinkle on your preference of cinnamon, and fry each side on medium heat until it is golden brown. Do this to both slices of the bread, serve with maple syrup and some fruits and your done! Optional: you can sift on some confectioner’s sugar. Personally I think the syrup makes it sweet enough :b

And there you have it! Quick and easy French Toast! I hope you enjoyed this post! Try it out and let me know if you liked it, and whether or not you have any suggestions! All constructive criticism is welcome! Hugs and cheers, till next time, Anya <3 :)

SWEET TREAT SUNDAY | Waffles & Hot Cocoa

As much as I am trying to eat healthy and home made foods more often, I have to treat myself every once in a while :b I have to give myself some credit though! Since the beginning of this school year I have DRASTICALLY cut down on the amount of restaurant food I consume! So this Sunday I decided to meet up with a friend whom I hadn’t seen in a while at this cute little gelato cafe! And although the gelato looked like creamy, heavenly deliciousness, due to this nasty cold (which doesn’t seem to want to leave me -_-) I had to stick with warm treats on this chilly Sunday afternoon. No bother however, because man, did the items I order do justice to their looks!

I began with this delicious Belgium waffle with fresh whipped cream and nutella sprinkled all over it, yummm <3 You could taste the freshness of the entire dessert! Halfway through my devouring of this waffle I realized I still hadn’t received the hot chocolate I had ordered :( Thankfully a kind waitress saw my distressed look and not only brought my hot chocolate over, but also gave me a free gelato voucher, HURRAY! Me and my friend managed to find a nice window seat at this time and the amazing, made from scratch hot chocolate, plus the nice company and great atmosphere made for a trip worth while! I definitely want to explore more of the coffee scene in this serene city! I have run for now, but until my next update, Arrivederci! Hugs and cheers, Anya <3
